What this visit is

Cats aren’t small dogs, so we don’t treat them like one. The whole visit moves at the cat’s pace, with no restraint beyond a hand steadying them, no muzzle by default, and no attempt to finish a job a cat has clearly decided is over. We handle long-haired comb-outs, pelt and mat removal, sanitary and belly trims, lion cuts and nail caps, with bathing offered only when it is genuinely needed.

Who it suits

Long-haired cats who can’t keep up with their own coat, seniors who stopped grooming themselves once their joints got stiff, and any cat already carrying mats. Short-haired cats rarely need us, and we’ll tell you so rather than book you in. A sudden change in coat condition is often the first visible sign that something else is going on, so it is worth a conversation with your vet alongside a booking here.

How the time is spent

Tuesday and Thursday mornings, before a single dog is in the building. The room stays quiet, the table is warmed, and the visit moves at the cat’s pace with pauses whenever they ask for one. Most of it is combing rather than cutting. We work in short stretches and put the comb down the moment the tail starts going — the visit ends when the cat says so, and you pay only for what actually got done.

How often to come back

Every six to eight weeks for a long-haired cat carrying a full coat, and less often once the tangles are under control. Cats who’ve had a lion cut usually come back as the coat grows back in. Once we are ahead of the matting, most owners settle into a rhythm of three or four visits a year with a comb at home in between, which is far less work than it sounds.
